Hand Biometrics : an Overview

Due to interconnected informational society of the world, there is a need for authentication and identification of individuals. Biometric based authentication is the most reliable solution since it provides real time recognition of individuals. There are various biometric technologies and systems for authentication. The human hand contains a wide variety of measurable characteristics that can be used by biometric authentication systems. This paper presents the overview of the following Biometrics based on human hand: Finger print, Hand geometry, Palm print, Hand vein, Finger stripes, Finger knuckle print and Finger nail bed.
